Trump and Johnson Lose Fight to Block Iran War Powers Resolution
The Republican-led House of Representatives has grown tired of the U.S. fighting Israel’s war.
Donald Trump and Mike Johnson failed on Wednesday to defeat a war powers resolution to limit the president’s authority to continue the Iran War, helplessly watching as representatives voted in favor of the proposal by a 215-208 margin. If passed by the Senate, the resolution would direct Trump to end hostilities against Iran. GOP lawmakers Warren Davidson, Thomas Massie, Brian Fitzpatrick, and Tom Barrett joined Democrats in voting yes.
Hakeem Jeffries is out of his mind on a wide array of issues, but he was exactly right to call this conflict “reckless and costly” on Tuesday. Sharing his common-sense view does not make us liberals; it means we are actually America First. Our country would have no business fighting this war if Joe Biden were in office, and a Republican occupying the White House does not change that fact.
