Skid Row Hobos Say They Got Paid to Vote for Karen Bass
Did Democrats cheat in last week’s Los Angeles mayoral election? This story suggests they may have.
Footage of numerous Skid Row residents claiming they received cash payments to vote for Karen Bass went viral on Wednesday, showing the homeless Angelenos suggesting it is standard practice for political operatives to pop into their village and offer money for votes. This video shows a woman testifying that “they come out here all the time.”
Reported payments ranged from $2 to $5. Resident Rene Johnson admitted to receiving the latter to cast a ballot for Bass, saying, “I was just trying to make five bucks, you know?”
Vote buying is illegal, but not unheard of in the United States. California woman Brenda Armstrong pleaded guilty to paying hobos to register to vote last month.
